Ever wondered what happened to the office assistant Clippy after Windows XP. PaperTrip is the unborn child of the imagination of someone who wondered what happened to Clippy once he was done serving his purpose.
Remembering Past Times
Who remembers those little capsule toys that
were sold gumball machines? Homies figures were the
perfect example of one of the many gumball machine toy lines. Featuring a bunch of little characters that all had a different
personas of their own. I wanted to recreate this idea of bringing back these nostalgic little figurines, but more catered towards adults who grew up around this era.

The Beginning Forms
The process started by an ideation page of a bunch of little characters and ideas that popped in my head with the theme being trash. Items that people just mindlessly throw away and don't think twice about again.

Cataloguing the Cast
More Ideation took place to really flesh out the final ideas
and details of characters featured in Wasted 25¢.
Forms and Structure were taken heavily into consideration
during this phase as many of the characters would be cut to
focus on one major character.

The Story of PaperTrip
Based off Microsoft Office Assistant, commonly known as Clippy, was introduced in the year 1997 as part of Microsoft Office 97. Clippy was a virtual assistant characterized by its anthropomorphic paperclip design, aimed at providing users with helpful tips and assistance while using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Despite initial enthusiasm, Clippy faced widespread criticism for its intrusive and often unnecessary interruptions, leading to its eventual discontinuation in later versions of Microsoft Office. However, its brief stint left a lasting legacy in the realm of user interface design, serving as a cautionary tale about the importance of intuitive and non-intrusive software assistance.

The Evolution of PaperTrip
Once I decided on PaperTrip as the full-scale model for this
project it was time to start crafting him. I did the same technique.
when creating the others and did a clay model. I then took this clay.
model and created a two-part mold where I casted it in a liquid resin.
plastic. From there he was hand painted to bring forth all the little
details, and this was the day PaperTrip was born.
